I have two decades of freelancing in film and photography behind me as a cameraman, director and stills photographer. Twenty amazing years of following my passions, of creativity and of artistic and productive adventuring all within the context of an exciting, high energy work environment.

It has been a journey of creative problem solving, perseverance and of constant learning, where as a director or behind the camera I’ve developed a razor sharp focus on objectives as well as the soft skills learning that comes from heading a department. Wearing the producer hat was about the  organisational, financial, legal and contracting skills and the ability to understand a creative project from the prospective of a client or audience.

But being freelance also has its costs. It can be an unstable and chaotic life and in the media industry it is a particular challenge to make a living whilst following a more engaged and philosophical path. A growing urge to incorporate my degree in ecology and conservation as well as my construction and design skills into my career journey lead me ultimately to refocus and take the step of returning to school to study architecture where I feel I can consolidate my disparate skills under a single roof.
